Welcome to The Shaun Newman Podcast!
The Shaun Newman Podcast is a Western Canadian podcast that goes where most Canadian media won’t.
Since 2019, I’ve sat down with politicians, journalists, professors, farmers, athletes, economists, and contrarians for real long-form conversations, not the watered-down interviews you get from mainstream media.
SNP started in a broom closet in Lloydminster, Canada. Today, it has produced over 1,000 episodes, featured 800+ guests, and surpassed 5 million plays.
Monday through Thursday, you’ll hear full interviews with people shaping, studying, or living through the stories the mainstream often ignores. Guests have included Premier Danielle Smith, Don Cherry, Ron MacLean, Martin Armstrong, Tom Luongo, Alex Krainer, and many others. Sometimes I just bring my brothers on to argue about hockey.
Fridays are for the Mashup, a live and unscripted show with fellow Canadian podcaster @222minutes. It’s looser, faster, and less polished by design.
SNP has also expanded beyond the microphone with The Cornerstone Forum, the in-person extension. Launched in Lloydminster in 2024, the 2026 event moved to Calgary and drew attendees from across Canada and beyond. The 2027 edition is already in the works.
If you’re tired of approved takes on Canadian politics, media, and national direction, SNP is for people who ask uncomfortable questions and want long-form answers instead of soundbites.
Listen to a handful of episodes and you’ll have a clearer picture of what’s actually going on in this country, and a harder time pretending the mainstream version is the whole story.
