Good evening all.
It is soooooooo good to be back home. I’m probably in a small fringe minority when I say I am excited to be back in the bustling metropolis of Lloydminster once again. Not sure what it is, could be the upgrader lighting up the horizon, the magnificent border markers or the scent of the rape seed plant. All jokes aside, it’s good to be home. Love this place.
Since we left I have been waiting for a new piece of artwork to be finished for the studio. To this point there have probably been 10 people to see this photo and now it is up for the world to see courtesy of photographer Luc Cherubino and the work of Laura at Art & Soul Framing and Gallery.
Along our family trip we’ve been discussing tons of different ideas for the podcast and today we are unveiling the Sunday Night Week ‘n Review. The idea being simple, I’ve heard from a lot of you that 5 episodes is a lot to keep up with, but you watch what appeals to you. First, don’t beat yourself up, I completely get it, but I think there are different guests that you should hear so we’ve put together a quick week in review to watch and maybe something will grab your attention. Moving forward Sunday nights we are aiming to have Substack posts out to ensure you all can keep up with what the podcast has been talking about.
Let us know what you think of the Week in Review video? What did you like, what would you like to see in the future or any changes?
Here are a few extra photos from 46 days on the road.
Not everyday I get to bump into a podcast guest. Above is Mark Oshinskie and his wife Ellen. Check out his Substack Dispatches From a Scamdemic or Episode #656 from when he was on the podcast.
Next I ran into my college roommate and his family. Nothing like taking over your buddy’s bedroom in order to record an episode of the podcast.
This year marked 10 years for Mel & I and we did it out on Lake Minnetonka with family. As we celebrated 10 years, Rachel/Jeremy celebrated 3 years (to my right and directly across the table) and Danielle/Timmy celebrated 7 years (both across from Mel).
There are lots of great photos from our trip, but this is my favourite. Our youngest had been sick for what felt like an eternity and normally he is a fish and jumps into the water immediately. This week was not that. He was clingy, whiny and not that interested in the water. We were getting ready for a ride on the pontoon boat and Mel had him change into his swim trunks on the dock and butt naked he asked if he could go for a swim. Pragmatic parents we started to persuade that he should put on his trunks first, but as you can see he not only convinced us, but had me right in there beside him (trunks on for me). He was a happy kid immediately, one of those memories that will stick with me for years ahead.
John first I’d like to congratulate you and Mel on your 10 year marriage. And your wonderful photos of you, your family and your friends. It’s always nice to see good times and I’m like you there’s no place like home done. I wanna lay my head down in my own bed.
Isn’t it great to have a Home that wraps its arms around you after a time away!
